Director of Ecosystem Partnerships

The Director of Ecosystem Partnerships will help to drive overall growth of Heroku’s developer ecosystem, as well as manage key relationships with our ecosystem partners. You will be responsible for developing and executing a partnership strategy with existing and new partners to service our joint customers.

Key areas of responsibility for this position include: 

Ecosystem Partner Relationship Development and Management 
  • Develop and execute a broad product/program/engineering ecosystem strategy for adding and growing key partners to the platform
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with developer service partners, piloting new initiatives and evaluating the performance of these initiatives as part of the larger Heroku strategy
  • Research and develop innovative new business models and growth opportunities with partners; negotiate, structure, and execute relevant agreements
  • Be the point person for inbound partnership and other opportunities 
  • Work with team leads spanning the entire company, including Product and Engineering, Exec, Sales Ops and Business Operations, Product Marketing, Sales, Legal, M&A, and Salesforce Ventures 
Add-ons Program Growth and Evolution 
  • Evolve the Heroku Elements Marketplace, which currently has over 100 add-on providers and is growing rapidly 
  • Understand the current technical primitives available to our developers as it relates to platform partnerships, and provide input to the product roadmap for new ones  
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the various industry business/pricing models and apply them to accelerate business growth 
  • Measure the business success for the program 
Partner Product Roadmap and Integrations 
  • Represent partners as constituents in product roadmap development 
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to identify the needs of our ecosystem partners
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to help establish the partnerships and define the technical primitives that extend the Heroku platform   
  • Find and understand new and emerging technologies; bring new ideas and perspectives back into R&D and the business 
Developer Marketing Programs and Events 
  • Be a subject matter expert in regards to developer services as it relates to PaaS
  • Assist in co-marketing program development & execution
  • Ambassador for Heroku at events, hackathons, tradeshows and meetups: represent Heroku and build awareness of our developer ecosystem programs, targeting key partners
The ideal candidate will need to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, have a passion for improving the developer experience, and the ability to quickly understand new and emerging technologies. 

We strongly prefer that this position be based out of our headquarters in San Francisco. 10-20% travel required for events, meetings and relationship development.
